The companys has announced the Personal Securer, a security GSM/GPS tracking device, targeted at women, children, seniors and people with dangerous jobs, or vertical markets like fleet control and logistics. The device comes with a Panic button that connects it directly to a call centre, and a button that allows phone calls to two pre-defined phone numbers. In addition to this, the Personal Securer can be attached via USB to a laptop or desktop computer, and be used as a GSM/GPRS modem or GPS device.
Settings on each device can be configured via SMS. The GSM/GPRS part is a tri-band module, with a Class B, multi-slot class 10 GPRS modem. A full battery can deliver up to 12 hours stand-by and 2 hours voice calls. There's a special stand-by mode that will send a "heartbeat" SMS every 30 minutes. This mode will reduce the expected battery to 10 hours.
The device will not be available directly to end users, being sourced through security services only. The company plans to start deliveries from October 2004.
