The end of the boring old Brrring Brrring

The personalisation of mobile phones is continuing with the introduction of Caller Tunes on Telecom’s 027 network.

Instead of the traditional ‘brrring brrring’, 027 customers can now choose the sound their callers hear on the line while they wait for the phone to be answered.

Over 240 Caller Tunes, including CD quality songs, comedy sounds and impersonations can be selected to play over the standard ‘brrring brrring’. A similar service has been a huge hit in the UK and is seen as the next step in mobile personalization following the success of ringtones.

Caller Tunes cost NZ$3.50 each. A full list of Caller Tunes can be previewed on Telecom’s Caller Tune Jukebox online. Customers can also hear an online demonstration of how Caller Tunes are livening up mobile calling.

To set up a Caller Tune, customers simply text the quick code for that Caller Tune to 8863, or access and set it up directly from the WAP menu on a 027 mobile.
