Motorola MPx220 makes its US appearance
The Motorola MPx220 will be finally available in the United States, through Cingular. The model MPx220 is initially available at Best Buy stores nationwide beginning 17 October and will hit Cingular retail stores later next month.

The MPx220 is a quad-band GSM mobile phone, with built-in 1.2 megapixel digital camera with flash, capable of video recording (3gpp). It is based on a TI OMAP 200 MHz processor, with 64MB ROM and 32MB RAM. It supports mini SD for memory expansion. An integrated 1.23 megapixel camera featuring zoom, self-image capabilities, and video capture and playback.

It also comes with a Java run-time environment for games, and .Net Compact Framework support. Bluetooth is available on this new model. The companies believe the corporate market will also benefit with its integration with Microsoft Exchange 2003, SSL and VPN support. The Li-ion 800mAh battery should support up to 7 hours talk time, and 8 days stand-by.

“For many of today’s busy executives, the traditional ‘office’ is a thing of the past,” said Michael Tatelman, vice president and general manger, MOTOPro Products, Motorola, Inc. “Their business world is mobile: available on the road, at their homes, on the go or any place in between. The email and synchronization power of the Motorola MPx220 addresses their needs in one package, ideal for the busy professional who wants to travel seamlessly through their day.”
