Posted on 26-Oct-2004 07:52 | Tags Filed under: News

Vindigo, one of the best-known publishers of consumer applications for mobile devices, announced the acquisition of waymobile.com, Inc., a San Diego-based developer and publisher of mobile content and commerce products, including AwayAuction for eBay. Through Vindigo's extensive carrier distribution network and porting expertise, waymobile.com's mobile services will now be available to wireless subscribers on every major carrier in the U.S.

"Together we will streamline and more efficiently respond to the overwhelming demand for waymobile.com's products from mobile carriers and subscribers," said Jason Devitt, chief executive officer, Vindigo. "The acquisition strengthens Vindigo's already extensive catalog of mobile lifestyle products and accelerates our entry into other categories, including mobile commerce, ringtones and more."

Vindigo Studios will retain waymobile.com's San Diego offices in its first expansion outside of its headquarters in New York.
