SmartVideo to provide content for Microsoft mobile media portal
Posted on 28-Oct-2004 07:49 | Tags Filed under: News

SmartVideo Technologies, Inc. will provide video content for Pocket PC and Smartphone customers around the world through Microsoft's mobile device portal, WindowsMedia.com/Mobile. The link to the WindowsMedia.com/Mobile portal is included with every Pocket PC and SmartPhone operating system shipped, and ensures consumers have convenient and easy access to a rich media experience on their mobile devices. SmartVideo will provide mobile customers with an opportunity to preview video and subscribe to a service that includes access to a plethora of content choices. SmartVideo's basic subscription service will include access to live and on-demand programming of Breaking News, Finance News, Sports, Weather, Entertainment, Cartoons and Music Videos. The service will also include niche subscription packages for the Financial Community, Family Programming, Children's Programs, Hispanic Programming, and Teen Programming. SmartVideo expects to launch the subscription service in January 2005.

"Digital video capabilities in the mobile market are rapidly coming to fruition with the availability of improved hardware and software, such as the recent launch of Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Windows Mobile-based SmartPhones and Pocket PCs," said Jonathan Usher, director for the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corp. "Earlier this year, SmartVideo was added to the Windows Media 9 Series Certified Hosting Provider Program, and its support for the Windows Media.com/Mobile portal helps build on Microsoft's overall strategy of enabling digital entertainment anywhere."

The WindowsMedia.com/Mobile portal is included as an integral part of each Pocket PC and Smartphone operating system shipped. Visitors to the portal are provided an opportunity to view sample content covering music, movies, sports, news, and business.
