PalmOne is now taking pre-orders for the Tre 650 smartphone, connected to Sprint service. Users of Treo 600 models are eligible for an upgrade program that includes a free Jabra Bluetooth headset.
The company is also trying to attract new users by offering the first 100 people to place an order an autographed copy of the new book On Intelligence, by Jeff Hawkins, inventor of the PalmPilot, and Treo smartphone. the first 100 people to place your order.
The Treo 650 preserves some of the current Treo 600 features, including the form factor, but gives users a better colour display, with 320x320 pixels (65,000 colours), and a faster CPU, with the new device based on an Intel PXA 270 CPU running at 312MHz. It still gives a small memory (23MB for user data, or 22MB on multilingual systems) but it's now of a type (NVRAM) that will not be lost if the batteries go flat. There's a SDIO expansion slot, so users can still add more memory by using SD or MMC cards. Read more about the Treo 650.
