Epocrates has announced that the Epocrates Essentials integrated suite of clinical reference applications is available for Pocket PC devices. The suite includes key decision support applications -- drugs, diseases, and diagnostics -- required by health care professionals. Epocrates has also launched the Pocket PC version of its free basic drug reference guide, Epocrates Rx.
Over 420,000 physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals, including one in four U.S. physicians, are active users of Epocrates applications. The Epocrates suite of products provides unparalleled ease-of-use and up-to-date, trusted content that improves patient care and safety, and results in greater efficiency.
The Epocrates Rx Pro drug reference includes over 3,000 monographs including adult and pediatric dosing, contraindications and cautions and adverse reactions; an alternative medicine guide covering over 400 herbals; the MultiCheck function capable of checking up to 30 drugs simultaneously for interactions; health plan formulary coverage and retail prices; the Epocrates ID infectious disease treatment guide; and built-in dosing and medical calculators.
The Epocrates Dx medical diagnostic and therapeutic reference is based on content from the editor of 5-Minute Clinical Consult and features over 1,200 conditions and diagnoses described in extensive detail, quick treatment reminders, signs and symptoms, differential diagnoses, medications and more.
The Epocrates Lab reference covers hundreds of diagnostic tests and panels including information on collection, preparation and cautions; pricing and Medicare reimbursement; and interpretation (disease, drug and spurious causes) and follow-up guidelines.
The Epocrates Essentials suite is available for download as either an annual or two-year, low cost subscription compatible with Pocket PC and Palm OS handheld devices synchronizing to a Windows PC.
The Epocrates Rx drug reference is Epocrates' basic drug reference guide, featuring a database of over 3,000 drug monographs including adult and pediatric dosing, contraindications and cautions, adverse reactions, manufacturers and cost information and drug interactions; the built-in MultiCheck function that allows the user to simultaneously check up to 30 drugs for interactions; access to health plan formulary information; and a convenient AutoUpdate feature that ensures that users fully benefit from Epocrates' ongoing database updates. Epocrates Rx is available for download at no cost for use with handheld devices using either the Pocket PC or the Palm OS syncing to a Windows PC.
