Siemens has announced a USB dongle that connects Skype users to a cordless phone. But it only works with Siemens' own handsets.
Other companies are selling Skype- (or VoIP-) aware devices. One example Skype.net.cn, which is manufacturing a USB router that connects a computer to a corded (or cordless) handset, giving it access to either a landline or to a Skype account.
The device allows users to place Skype calls, while maintaining the ability to dial through a landline. Users can dial other Skype users by assigning speed dial numbers to the handset. The device provides DSP and echo cancellation, giving the feeling of an actual telephone set.
