The channel synchronisation service has added more features and a different look and feel. For Pocket PC users it includes a new independent program, which can be used as an Internet browser as well. Until now Avantgo relied on Pocket Internet Explorer to interface with users. Palm OS users know Avantgo as a independent Internet browser since its first version.
The program comes with a complete redesign of the user interface, including a small-screen optimized navigation and improved on-device channel management and selection. Users can search, browse, and add over 1200+ AvantGo channels directly from the mobile device, including creating personal channels.
Avantgo 2005 brings enhanced connected/wireless features. One of the new features is the selection of which channels to sync while in wireless mode, which will help minimize wireless costs while away from a wired connection.
The AvantGo 2005 beta includes new versions of AvantGo software for Palm OS 5, Windows Mobile Pocket PC, and Symbian OS UIQ and Symbian OS Series 60.
