Telecom New Zealand has quietly posted the palmOne Treo 600 CDMA on its website. The Palm OS 5.2.1 based smartphone is a dual mode CDMA 800 / CDMA 1900 mobile phone based on an ARM processor 144MHz ARM processor. The model available is the Carbon colour (pictured). The handheld devices comes with 32MB RAM (24MB available for user).
Users can expand its memory via MMC and SD memory cards. The device is SD I/O (Secure Digital Input/Output) ready. It comes with a built-in digital camera. Users are able to access the web and e-mail services through the Telecom CDMA 1xRTT mobile network. The model is not compatible with Telecom's CDMA EV-DO network (3G).
The palmOne Treo 600 was available in New Zealand on its GSM version. The new smartphone on Telecom New Zealand's line up is being released just after the announcement of the palmOne Treo 650 by palmOne. The Treo 650 has a slightly different keyboard configuration, increased memory, Bluetooth and higher resolution display. The Treo 650 is currently only available from Sprint (CDMA) in the US.
