SoftMaker Office for Windows or Linux now with academic pricing
Software developer SoftMaker is now offering an option of Academic pricing its SoftMaker Office, with versions for Windows and Linux. Schools, universities, teachers, and students are entitled to the special package.

Eligible participants in SoftMaker's educational sponsorship program can buy full site licenses of SoftMaker Office for just US$12 (or, in Europe, 12 Euros). These site licenses may be used at the educational institution on an unlimited number of personal computers, both for educational and administrative use.

Additionally, SoftMaker offers teachers their own personal license of SoftMaker Office for the same US$12, and students are entitled a license for US$13 (13 Euros in Europe).

SoftMaker Office 2004 contains counterparts to two programs in Microsoft Office Word and Excel: TextMaker is a fully Microsoft Word-compatible word processor while PlanMaker is an Excel-compatible spreadsheet.

The software has also versions available for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, which is not part of the special license offer. Non-academic price is set at US$69.95 (EUR 69.95).
