Vodafone introduces the v1620 Pocket PC Phone Edition
Vodafone is rolling out its push email, a service providing real-time, secure and remote access to email, contacts and calendar direct to a range of business-focused mobile devices (previous article).

As part of its announcement of this new service, the company is also introducing the Vodafone v1620 Pocket PC Phone Edition. The v1620 is an enhanced version of the HTC Blue Angel, with a fast Intel Xscale CPU at 520MHz, 128MB RAM, QVGA (320x240 pixels) TFT touchscreen. The model has a sliding keyboard like the i-mate PDA2k and a built-in digital camera.

Running the Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition OS, the new device comes with Pocket Internet Explorer, Pocket versions of Word, Excel and the usual Contacts, Calendar and Inbox applications. It also has a viewer for Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint files.

The Pocket PC suppports GSM/GPRS (quadband), Wireless LAN and Bluetooth. It also comes with SD/MMC slot, infrared port and USB for cradle connection.

The device measures 125mm x 72mm x 19mm and weighs 210g. The rechargeable battery provides up to 180 minutes talk time.
