Telus Mobility and UTStarcom Personal Communications Division (formerly Audiovox Communications Corp.) are launching the Audiovox PPC 6600 in Canada. The Audiovox PPC 6600 features Microsoft Windows Mobile software (the press release incorrectly say "for Smartphone" but this is a Pocket PC model), Bluetooth support for hands-free accessories, an integrated digital camera and video capability, expandable memory and an integrated MP3 player.

The Audiovox PPC 6600 offers the standard Windows Mobile applications, including Microsoft Pocket Outlook, Pocket Excel, Pcoekt Word, Windows Media Player, Microsoft ActiveSync technology and MSN Messenger.

Powered by an Intel XScale 400 MHz processor, the Audiovox PPC 6600 allows users to send and receive e-mail or text messages; view, create and edit documents; browse the Web; listen to news, music and other audio clips; and send and receive multimedia messages, such as pictures and video clips. The Audiovox PPC 6600 offers both portrait and landscape viewing modes and multiple data-input methods, including a sliding keyboard and stylus.

Business and personal wireless e-mail for the Audiovox PPC 6600 interfaces with Microsoft Exchange 2003 data and extends wireless access to the messaging, contacts and calendar applications, securely and conveniently. The device also supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync for over-the-air synchronization of e-mail, contact and calendar information with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.

With Bluetooth capability, clients can use wireless headsets or hands-free car kits, or link with other Bluetooth-enabled devices to check e-mail, synchronize contact lists and calendars, or surf the Web. The Audiovox PPC 6600 delivers advanced connectivity by automatically synchronizing with Microsoft Exchange 2003 and a built-in SD I/O slot, which accepts Secure Digital, MultiMedia Card and Secure MultiMedia memory cards for viewing pictures, e-mail attachments and sharing large data files between other devices with SD I/O.

The Audiovox PPC 6600 is available at Telus Mobility retail locations across Canada for CAD$349.99 on a three-year contract or CAD$749.99 with no contract.
