Tripod Data Systems (TDS) is running a giveaway competition with a TDS Recon rugged Pocket PC as a prize.
TDS will give away a Recon 200 with a 200 MHz processor and 64 MB of nonvolatile Flash storage, valued at US$1,299. The Recon runs Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003, and as a rugged handheld computer it meets MIL-STD-810F military standards for drops, vibration and temperature extremes. It also has an IP67 rating, meaning its water and dust resistant.
Registration is open through 31 July 2005. The winner, to be drawn at random on 5 August 2005, will be notified via e-mail.
Here's the catch though: the giveaway is open to legal U.S. residents age 21. What a shame for us outside the borders. I understand some companies don't like running competition open to any country because in some countries taxes are paid tby the company giving the device away, in some other countries there's a requirement to have a device available in the country if it is being offered, etc. But still, could extend to other countries with the same structure as the US.
