SRS Labs enables first SRS-enhanced CDMA Pocket PC in the market
The SRS WOW XT technology, from SRS Labs, Inc. is part of the new Samsung SCH-i730 Pocket PC Phone Edition, launched by Verizon in the USA.

The new device is the first SRS WOW XT audio enhanced Windows Mobile device, and also the first SRS WOW XT-enabled mobile phone to go on sale in the USA. The new phone is a Microsoft Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003 dual-band CDMA EV-DO compatible converged device, with MP3 capability.

Samsung Electronics enabled WOW XT on this device to provide an immersive 3D stereo image and bass enhancement for audio playback through its stereo headphone and stereo speaker-equipped handset.

Samsung is a current SRS Labs licensee and has developed and shipped several CDMA phones featuring SRS WOW technology for the Korean market since 2003.

SRS has a broad selection of audio enhancement implementations for semiconductor and software integration on mobile phones with a fast-to-market solution available for Microsoft's Windows Mobile PocketPC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 OS. This specialized system level audio driver, developed by SRS Labs specifically for these operating systems, provides audio enhancement to all audio and multimedia content on the handset including music, ring tones, video and games.

The Samsung SCH-i730 also marks the first WOW XT-enabled handset on the Intel Xscale PCA-27x processor, which has been touted by the industry for improved processing performance of handheld devices with optimized power consumption.
