Brightpoint to distribute RTX DUALPhone DEC phone for use with landlines and Skype
Brightpoint, Inc. will distribute telecommunications devices manufactured by RTX Telecom, including the RTX DUALphone. The DUALphone is one of the world's first DECT cordless phone that supports both VoIP "soft-phones" and regular land line services (POTS).

The dual functionality phone is targeted for the Brightpoint sales channels including national retail, independent retail, carriers and value added resellers. Brightpoint will also provide logistics services including end user fulfillment, web development and hosting, inventory management, e-commerce, returns management and order processing.

The Cordless DUALphone has been launched in more than 45 DECT markets in Europe, Africa and Asia. US-based Skype users will soon be able to use this cordless DECT with Skype on a PC.

The DUALphone concept allows the same cordless handset to be used to place or receive calls both via the analog telephone network and via the internet as a softphone.

DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication), a worldwide standard for cordless phones, has gained FCC approval in April 2005.

The biggest advantage for DECT cordless phones, compared to other digital cordless phones operating in ISM bands such as the 2.4GHz band and the 5.8GHz band, is that they operate in a frequency band dedicated to DECT products, making these cordless phones Wi-Fi friendly.
