Vodafone Australia unveils 3G handsets ahead of service launch
The new range includes the latest handsets including the Motorola V1050, Sony Ericsson v800i, Nokia 6680 and the Samsung Z500. Vodafone will reveal pricing details at launch and says its global buying power will generate savings that can be passed on to customers.

The range of Vodafone live! 3G-capable handsets feature high resolution cameras, video calling, and advanced audio features enabling music storage and digital quality playback.

From launch, Vodafone live! customers with 3G-capable handsets will be able to choose from five information and entertainment channels. The music channel will give customers access to approximately 500,000 full music tracks as well as music video clips from leading artists.

In addition to download tracks, the music channel will feature favourite artist wallpapers, ringtones and reviews.

The TV and video channel will offer TV episodes created specially for the small screen, while the news and weather channel features breaking news bulletins. Sports fans can view up-to-the-minute score updates as well as the latest highlights and gamers will be able to play their favourite titles on the move via the games channel.

Richard Sherwood, General Manager of Mass Markets, said: “The new Vodafone live! experience sees the convergence of portable entertainment gadgets – such as MP3 players, digital cameras, portable DVD players and portable gaming consoles – into one, easy-to-use, pocket-sized mobile phone.”

From October, customers in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra will be able to experience the full range of new Vodafone live! with 3G services. Vodafone will then roll out the network in Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide in 2006.

Final pricing information and additional launch handsets will be announced closer to the October launch.

All handsets are Vodafone live! enabled. The Motorola V1050 is a compact handset with built-in digital camera, 8x digital zoom, LED light, media player and 256MB of removable memory.

The Sony Ericsson v800i is an exclusive model for Vodafone, in colour and design. The handset comes in a clamshell form factor, with a 1.3 mega-pixel in-built camera and Motion Eye rotating lens.

The Nokia 6680 (pictured) is available in bronze or silver and features an LED flash and RealPlayer Media Player, enabling download and playback of audio and video files.

At just 95 grams, the Samsung Z500v is the smallest of the Vodafone live! range and includes a 1 mega-pixel camera, MP3 player, video calling and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
