Australian operator joining podcast with V8 Supercar program

Australian V8 Supercar fans will be able to keep up with the latest news from the series, and exclusive driver interviews, with BigPond launching podcasts of The Panelbeaters V8 Supercar show. BigPond is an Australian ISP, owned by telecommunications operator Telstra.

Podcasting allows digital music player users to download and listen to spoken word programs. The programs are "announced" to podcast catcher utilities through specially formated XML files.

BigPond Managing Director, Justin Milne, said podcasts of The Panelbeaters, hosted by Neil Crompton and featuring interviews with V8 Supercar drivers and the latest Championship news, were the latest innovation from BigPond for revheads.

"The Panelbeaters is webcast live from the V8Supercars website on race weekends, however not all fans are able to catch the show live," Mr. Milne said.

"With our podcasts, fans don't have to be at their PC or next to a radio to catch the show. You can get your fix of The Panelbeaters on the bus, mowing the lawn or while jogging around the block," he said.

For the show's host, former V8 racer and commentator Neil Crompton, it's another first. As frontman for The Panelbeaters he's also the first Australian sportstar to host a regular webcast program.
