O2 Germany has signed an agreement with the Swiss company Infront Sports & Media for the rights to mobile phone video coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The agreement covers all sixty-four games of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, as well as the archive of 2002 FIFA World Cup video material.

O2 will broadcast all key passages of play during the games and provide its customers with a post-match overview of each game's highlights.

During the 2006 FIFA World Cup from 9 June to 9 July 2006, O2 Germany customers will be able to download videos of the matches during the game via MMS or on a subscription basis. Goal sequences will also be accessible during matches through the O2 Active portal. A detailed summary of each game, as well as highlights of each day's competitions, will be available through streaming video.
