Broadband users with a WLAN (Wireless LAN) router will will be able to make Internet with the new Siemens Gigaset SL75 WLAN cordless phone from any Wireless LAN gateway with open access, without a running PC.
The handset enables storage of several WLAN access point profiles for easy switching between WLAN networks.
As well as making phone calls, the Gigaset SL75 WLAN permits communication using the instant messaging service (IM) functions. Instead of only notifying of incoming emails like the older Gigaset S35 WLAN, the Gigaset SL75 WLAN’s complete email functionality allows emails to be sent and received with photo attachments. It also comes with an integrated digital and sent throgh the built-in email client.
The handset’s telephone book will store up to 200 entries, with names, numbers, email and postal addresses. Contact data and ringer tones are imported directly from the PC to the Gigaset via WLAN without a data cable. Using the colored graphic display’s calling animation or assigning one of up to 16 standard or uploaded polyphonic ringer tones to key contacts enable callers to be recognized without even picking up the phone.
The Gigaset SL75 WLAN will be available from November 2005 in night grey for approximately EUR 299.
