Brasil Telecom GSM To Deploy Intellisync for Mobile Email and Mobile Data Services

Posted on 14-Sep-2005 12:44 | Filed under: News

Intellisync Corporation has been chosen by Brasil Telecom GSM as its wireless platform provider for mobile email and business services.

The mobile operator counts more than 1.5 million subscribers. The Intellisync Carrier Platform will allow Brasil Telecom GSM to provide its customers with wireless push email and personal information management (PIM) synchronization. Brasil Telecom GSM is the first GSM operator to deploy Intellisync in Brazil.

Brasil Telecom GSM will also provide its customers with a behind-the-firewall Intellisync solution that will allow enterprise subscribers to automatically receive personal and corporate email, calendar, contacts and other updates on their mobile devices from groupware/email servers including Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino, and also from POP3 and IMAP servers.

Also part of the offering will be a hosted or "ASP" service. This "pay-per-subscriber" model will allow mobile professionals and small business customers to purchase integrated wireless push email and PIM synchronization as a hosted service. Initially, Brasil Telecom GSM will offer Intellisync-powered wireless services on eight smartphones available on their network, such as the Palm Treo 600, Nokia Communicator 9500 and Sony Ericsson P910. More devices will be rolled out over time.
