The CDMA Development Group has announced Telecom New Zealand the winner of the Most Innovative Wireless Enterprise Solution Development 2005 during a ceremony in Miami.

The 3G CDMA industry award recognises Telecom New Zealand for developing a number of enterprise solutions that uses network capabilities (CDMA2000 1x and 1xEV-DO) to deliver cost-effective solutions that provide improved efficiency and returns for its customers.

Lucent Technologies nominated Telecom for the award.

The Judges commented on one of the case studies, that of event manager Timing New Zealand:

“Mobile Broadband enables them to deliver world class “instant’ results for event organisers, media and on-site course commentators for domestic and international sporting event such as the New Zealand IRONMAN,” the judges commented.

Telecom’s General Manager of Mobile Kevin Kenrick said Telecom had been first in New Zealand to launch a 3G service (November 2004) and customers had reaped the benefits of the new array of services including fast mobile broadband, enabling people to work anywhere.

“Our customers have embraced mobile broadband and our T3G services, hence our commitment to provide access to up to 80% of the population in all main town and cities by Christmas this year,” Mr Kenrick said.
