Canadian Advantech AMT will supply New Zealand-based Woosh Wireless with Microwave Ethernet solutions through its Allgon Microwave division. Advantech AMT is a manufacturer of satellite and terrestrial wireless communication equipments.
Under the agreement, Woosh Wireless are placing a large frame order to enable their network rollout through to the end of 2006. Wooshx will use the licensed microwave technology to provide backbone capacity in large parts of its network. With the microwave backhaul, Woosh can control quality while simultaneously reducing network cost.
"We have been serving Woosh with true Ethernet solutions right from the start in 2002. It is gratifying for me to see that our quality and system gain, combined with our extremely low latency and flat throughput, are so highly acknowledged by Woosh," says Peter Svensson, Sales Manager for Allgon Microwave. "Our LAN-100 product is doing a perfect job and uniquely fulfils the tough requirements on true Ethernet backhaul for a live UMTS TDD network. Woosh's success means that their network needs to deliver great performance whilst experiencing some of the heaviest traffic conditions in the industry, which is where we really differentiate ourselves in the market."
