Cingular Wireless have announced the upcoming launch of Cingular Video, an on-demand streaming video service that delivers personalized access to high-quality video clips on consumers' high-speed capable (3G) phones.
Cingular Video lets consumers personalize their service so they can easily access current video content they want to see, including news, sports, weather and entertainment clips. In addition, Cingular is providing expanded ringtones, graphics, messaging, and games, delivering innovative and exclusive entertainment content conveniently to consumers' wireless phones.
Cingular entered a partnership with HBO to produce exclusive mobile content on the two new services HBO Mobile and HBO Family Mobile. The service offers select episodes, video clips and bonus material from HBO shows, cartoons and new comedy and sports.
While the video content will be available early next year, the downloadable content is available from December 2005. These elements will include new Messaging services, ringtones (The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Rome, Deadwood, and Six Feet Under), graphics and games.
Because some HBO Mobile content on Cingular Video is for mature audiences only, the company has recently launched Parental Controls feature, providing content and purchase blockers on phones so parents can restrict access to content that may be inappropriate for younger audience.
