Motricity Expands in Europe Through Brightpoint and gate5 Partnerships

Posted on 13-Feb-2006 23:22 | Filed under: News

Motricity has announced an agreement with Sweden AB ("Brightpoint"), a subsidiary of Brightpoint Inc, to create the storefront for certain Brightpoint wireless handsets and PDAs. This agreement, reached by Motricity's Mobile2Day division, marks the first such arrangement with a mass distributor and enables Motricity to strengthen its EMEA presence.

"This agreement is an important part of our relationship with Microsoft Mobile and Embedded Devices Group," said Kristian Stark, vice president of Brightpoint Europe's Microsoft Windows Mobile division. "To show a world-class storefront is critical to our ability to market the newest Windows Mobile products and promote navigation, mobile fleet management and entertainment on the newest devices."

Motricity also announced a storefront partnership with with gate5 AG, a supplier of software and services for location-based information on mobile devices. This partnership will result in the creation of two storefronts: the first transforms the smartphone or pocket PC into a full-scale navigation system, and the second is specific to Personal Navigation Devices.

Both will offer nearly 1,000 products and will be available in several languages, including English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
