Pretec Electronics Corp. has announced a series of new products during the CeBIT 2006 in Germany. Amongst the new additions is a 2GB RS-MMC and a low cost version of 1.5GB SD/MMC/CF cards. These 1.5GB cards are attractive to developers distributing bundled software such as digital map, where more than 1GB is needed yet less than 1.5GB data space is required.
The company will also show a content upload service for customers who need to pre-load software or other digital media content to the flash cards. A prototype of the automatic content uploading/duplication machine for many form factors (CF, MMC, RS-MMC, MMC micro, SD, miniSD, microSD, C-Flash, CU-Flash, USB, etc.) will be available for demonstration during the show.
Also being introduced is a new USB 2.0 flash drive called i-Disk Connect, with capacity and/or function expandability. In addition to a USB 2.0 flash drive, i-Disk Connect is equipped with a built-in USB hub and a female USB socket allowing users to connect different USB IO devices (such as Wireless LAN, GPRS, GPS, Bluetooth, digital camera, etc.) currently available from market to expand to different multiple functions as they need.
i-Disk Connect is sampling now and will start mass production by april 2006. A new triple function i-Disk Connect +, which is i-Disk Connect combined with i-Disk Touch, with build-in fingerprint security function USB flash drive will be available from Pretec by later this year.
The i-Disk Mobile is a USB 2.0 flash drive with mobile phone bridge and charger functionality. In addition to a USB 2.0 flash drive, i-Disk Mobile can recharge a mobile phone directly through the USB port of any PC.
It also acts as a data transferring bridge between the mobile phone and PC/notebook, allowing users to upload, download or synchronise the Phone Book, Short Message and phone call records from mobile phone to PC (or vice versa).
i-Disk Mobile is sampling now and currently support Nokia and Sony Ericsson mobile phones with matching connector and firmware. New versions with different firmware and connector will be offered in the future to support different mobile phones such as Motorola, Samsung, Benq/Siemens, LG, ASUS, OKWAP, etc.
