Known in the commercial world as a phone for business because of its long range and 2-way radio, the DuraFon from EnGenius Technologies is moving to the consumer electronics arena as the consumer-friendly DuraFon-Lite.
Typically covering 12-floors in high-rises or up to 250,000 square feet, the DuraFon-Lite is designed for families to keep track of each other all around the neighborhood via phone and beyond with its built-in two-way radio.
The DuraFon-Lite’s expandability to 4 lines and 36 handsets lets consumers configure the phone in any way wanted. One line for the main family number can ring all of the handsets. The handset in the home office can be set to ring just the family line and the home office line. For kids the handset can be configured to ring in the family room plus one in each of their own bedrooms set up for just their line.
All lines can be labeled individually with an indicator, so when Line 1 rings, it can say “Jensen Family” on the display instead of just “Line 1.” Lines 3 and 4 can be labeled “Katie” and “Jack” respectively so you never have to guess who’s getting a call.
For families on the go, the DuraFon-Lite’s 2-way radio can help keeping the family connected if they’re in the same vicinity like an park, the slopes, a cruise ship, or even the local shopping centre. Although they don’t have phone access, they can talk to each other in a private conversation or broadcast a message to the whole family.
