Lucent Technologies and Alcatel in Talks to Merge

Alcatel and Lucent Technologies have released a short note confirming the companies are engaged in discussions about a potential merger of equals that is intended to be priced at market.

The note remindes that there can be no assurances that any agreement will be reached or that a transaction will be consummated.

Both companies say no further comments will be offered until an agreement is reached or the discussions are terminated.
