WinSystems Introduces RoHS Compliant Compact Flash Cards
WinSystems is introducing their RoHS compliant Industrial Grade compact flash type I memory cards. The cards are available in sizes of 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB and 2GB.

The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive will ban the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants from 1 July 2006.

These cards are considered industrial grade because of:
  • Operating temperature range of -40 degrees to 85 degrees (Celsius)
  • On-board ECC (spare blocks & bad block management)
  • minimum of 2,000,000 program/erase cycles
  • 10 year data retention with unlimited reads
  • 32 bit RISC controller
  • True IDE mode (PIO modes 0-4 & DMA modes 0-2)

The cards are able to emulate an IDE hard disk.
