Sony is announcing the latest addition to its popular family of Sony WALKMAN MP3 players. With quick-charge functionality giving three hours of battery life in just three minutes, the new Sony WALKMAN models offer one of the fastest battery recharges on the market.

The Sony WALKMAN range also boasts up to 28 hours playback when using the ATRAC3 format and 27 hours with MP3, using the internal Lithium-ion rechargeable battery.

The new devices are available in six color choices (pink, blue, silver, violet, black, and lime green) and 3 flash memory sizes: 512MB (megabytes), 1GB (gigabytes) and 2GB. An optional FM tuner is available for 512MB & 1GB models.

The Sony WALKMAN is compatible with most commonly used digital music formats like MP3, ATRAC and unsecured WMA files. It offers download capabilities by direct connection through the USB port on a computer.

Each player comes with the latest SonicStage 3.4 software version for music management and transfer of tracks.

Sony says the player offers maximum storage of up to 90 CDs for the 2GB model, 45 CDs for the 1GB and 22 CDs for the 512MB with encoding set to 48kbps.

The slim and compact body measures just 79mm and weighs 25g. The external display is a 1 line dot matrix organic LED (OLED) display.

This new WALKMAN models will be available from the end of April 2006 across Europe.
