Floppy Disk Sized, Durable USB FlashDrive from Memorex Now Available
Memorex has announced the availability of a shareable, flash-based USB storage media, The Memorex FlashDisc.

Available now at Best Buy in a package of three (3) multi-colored 16MB FlashDiscs for a suggested retail price of US$19.99, the FlashDisc offers a high-capacity alternative to the floppy diskette (16MB vs 1.44MB) and low-cost alternative to personal USB flash drives.

The FlashDisc combines low-density flash memory chips - encased in lightweight but protective plastic - with a USB connector and protective cap.

At 6cm (2.3”) in diameter and 0.7cm (0.3”) high, the FlashDisc’s thin, round design is durable and portable like a floppy diskette.

The design intention has been to create a cheap storage mechanism that is durable and sold in bulk. Something that can be used by children in classrooms, thrown into your briefcase and even mailed without concern of it being damaged.
