Toshiba HD-DVD notebook in NZ & Australia from May
Toshiba has announced HD-DVD support for the Qosmio series of notebooks. Available in New Zealand and Australia towards the end of May 2006, the updated Qosmio G30 supports an HD playback LCD screen in WUXGA 1920x1200 for HD DVD content playback at 1920x1080.

It also has an HDMI output to support HD TV or act as a video source for large TVs or home theatre projectors.

With a 17" widescreen display, and a Digital Video Broadcasting TV tuner (DVB-T) this device can recieve standard or high definition digital television broadcasts, which offer better reception, 16:9 aspect, high quality audio and a program guide channel. Additionally the notebook has a standard analogue tuner for areas with no digital coverage.

The G30 HD DVD-ROM uses a single objective lense to allow reading of HD/DVD/CD ROMs and writing of DVDs and CDs. The drive supports DVD+/- R, DL (dual layer) and DVD-RAM.

    The new Qosmio G30 is expected in May 2006, with a suggest retail price of NZ$6,000.
