Woosh Secures Agreement with Telecom New Zealand

Posted on 15-May-2006 14:32 | Filed under: News

Woosh Wireless has secured an agreement in principle for usage rights to an additional amount of 2.3GHz spectrum in a deal with Telecom New Zealand.

“This is very valuable spectrum as it has become a standard around the world for broadband wireless services. This boosts Woosh’s vision to deliver a new generation of wireless broadband services for customers – with mobile phones, broadband and digital TV services” says Nick Clarke, Woosh’s Commercial Manager.

Woosh now has sufficient spectrum in both 2.0GHz and 2.3GHz to deploy multiple broadband wireless technologies – including WiMax. The agreement allows for Telecom to continue using the spectrum in remote rural communities ensuring a wide range of consumers benefit from the arrangement.

Woosh is pursuing arrangements with owners of 2.3GHz spectrum in other parts of the world including Australia to allow customers to roam seamlessly between broadband wireless networks
