Vodafone and Lenovo New Zealand Partner to Deliver Embedded 3G Connectivity

Posted on 22-May-2006 10:22 | Filed under: News

Lenovo New Zealand is planning to release the new ThinkPad X60 and T60 Series with Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology featuring built-in 3G connectivity.

Vodafone Business Director Phil Patel says the partnership between Lenovo and Vodafone means that customers in 3G coverage areas will be able to enjoy the benefits of high-speed mobile data networking without the need for external datacards or nearby Wireless LAN access points.

The companies say ThinkPad notebooks with integrated WWAN with 3G capability will enable IT departments to make the most out of mobile working and enable their workforce to be more productive and flexible. IT people can expect less hardware to troubleshoot and replace as no PC card is necessary for connection and improved data security for employees who frequently travel.

Commenting on the new relationship with Vodafone, Karen Brace, Country Manager, Lenovo New Zealand says: The partnership with Vodafone helps us provide ThinkPad customers with a truly mobile computing environment. The integration of 3G broadband capability added to existing WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, when managed by Lenovos Access Connections software, allows seamless roaming between wired and wireless networks while minimising complex configuration and reducing the overall total cost of ownership.

The integrated notebooks are now available directly from Lenovo and Vodafone resellers. Recommended Retail Prices for the new Lenovo ThinkPad X series 3G mobile broadband laptops will be available immediately starting at NZ$3559.11 exc GST, and in late May, the ThinkPad T series will be available starting at NZ$3369.88 exc GST.
