ROCOM Wireless has completed the construction of its gateway into mobile phones (GiMP), which went live in April 2006 and since then has successfully run TxT/SMS campaigns for many clients including the 2006 Census on behalf of Statistics New Zealand and a TXT promotion in conjunction with the release of the latest Harry Potter DVD.
The GiMP is using the latest version of the Message Master Gateway software from German company Derdack coupled with ROCOM’s own carrier grade billing engine supporting specific billing for clients in the TxT Marketing industry.
The GiMP has a high level direct connection into the Vodafone New Zealand and Telecom New Zealand mobile networks for premium messaging, offering volume management and status reporting.
The GiMP has open interfaces available for clients to connect using SMTP, SOAP and HTTP and has built-in MMS capability for when the carriers turn on their MMS gateways.
ROCOM says GiMP is an independent agnostic gateway, non-aligned to advertising agencies, developers and carriers.
