Opera Software has released Opera 9, its newest Web browser for PCs. The software can be downloaded for free in more than 25 languages for Windows, Mac, Linux and other platforms.
Opera 9 includes widgets and native support for BitTorrent, the popular file distribution technology.
This version introduces the security bar to prevent scams like phishing and strengthening Opera 9's pop-up blocker to weed out annoying or potentially malicious pop-ups.
Users can change the look and feel of their browser by downloading new skins or altering buttons to suit the interface to personal preferences.
Widgets bring a variety of Web content and data to the users' computer’s desktop. With these mini-programs it is possible to play games, get organized, follow favorite sports teams and more. Widget developers can create widgets using open and common Web standards including JavaScript, CSS, HTML and SVG and technologies like AJAX.
