Hutchison set to open '3' shops in Australia by 15th April
In step with its previously announced timing, Hutchison Telecommunications (Australia) Limited announced it is proceeding with final testing of its third generation (3G) handsets and network infrastructure.

Hutchison has established 3G launch network capability, on time and on budget. Final preparations for commercial launch are now underway.

New Hutchison shops, operating under the global brand 3, will open on April 15, in 20 prime locations.

A full suite of true 3G services will be on offer, showcased by live person-to-person video calling and an array of content-rich information and entertainment services. Video-based consumer and business services will include news and sport highlights, financial news and information and email. Other services include an entertainment guide, mapping service, weather, horoscopes, games and ringtones.

Multi-media messaging of pictures and video (with audio) will be available on a choice of two leading-brand handsets – NEC and Motorola – equipped with digital camera for still photographs and video.
