Airscanner have ported the Airscanner Mobile Sniffer for Pocket PC to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. The software now has an updated and highly optimized design.
Trial versions can now be downloaded from the company's website.
The software allows network administrators to take advantage of its capabilities and compatibility with Ethereal packet capture format, grabbing user's passwords out of the airwaves. Airscanner Mobile Sniffer also works in promiscuous mode, so it is possible to discover unauthorized users who may be associating with one of the access points under supervision.
Airscanner Mobile Sniffer packs a full-scale sniffer into an application for portable devices. Once the Windows Mobile device is linked to the network, Airscanner Mobile Sniffer monitors all activity within a given segment. In addition, Airscanner Mobile Sniffer allows administrators to set their own filters, allowing monitoring of selected information.
When used in promiscuous mode it is possible to decode UDP, TCP, Ethernet, DNS, and NetBios packets, conduct network analysis on an entire wireless LAN segment, customize filters for source and/or destination IP Address, UDP Port, TCP Port, or MAC and view real-time packet statistics.
These results can be saved or exported to libpcap/Ethereal format for further analysis on a desktop PC.
