Vodafone Germany Introduces VPA Compact III Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition
With the VPA compact III Vodafone is enhancing its series of Vodafgone-branded connected PDAs. With access to 3G (UMTS) networks, the new VPA Compact III combine PDA and mobile phone on a single device, based on Microsoft Windows mobile 5.0 operating system.

The new device comes with the MSFP (Messaging and Security Feature Pack), a software update that enables Windows Mobile devices to automatically synchronise e-mail, calendar, contacts and tasks to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 with Service Pack 2. This feature uses the Direct Push technology, which provides instant e-mail delivery through cellular data networks.

The new PDA also sports a slide keyboard, making it easier for users to write messages, update documents and input general information.

The VPA Compact III can connect to the Internet through 3G cellular data networks or via wireless LAN access points and hotposts. It also comes combe built-in Bluetooth wireless technology.

The new device is aimed at small, medium business and enterprises. Important office programs such as Word mobile, Excel Mobile, Powerpoint Mobile and a pdf viewer are pre-installed and ready for use, allowing users to access documents downloaded from the Intranet, Internet or e-mail attacments.

The VPA compat III measures 112.5 x 58 x of 21.95 millimeters and weighs 176 grams. The device is at quadband mobile phone working on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands.

The VPA compact III will be available from July 2006 in Germany.
