NTT DoCoMo, Inc. have worked with High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC) to develop a handset, called "hTC Z," based on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Japanese-edition. DoCoMo will start selling this new Pocket PC in late July, in Japan.
The hTc Z will enable a variety of mobile business solutions using Windows Server and Exchange Server, including the Microsoft Direch Push e-mail solution. DoCoMo plans to sell the handsets to corporate customers as part of its comprehensive business solutions.
The handset is compatible with GSM/GPRS and NTT DoCoMo's 3G FOMA network. It measures 112.5mm x 58 mm x 22mm and weighs about 176 grams.
A sliding mechanism provides access to a QWERTY keyboard. The device comes with two built-in digital cameras, an external one with 2megapixels and an internal one with 100,000 pixels.
The display is a 2.8" LCD TFT, with 240x320 pixels (QVGA) resoluion. Standard memory is 64MB RAM and 128 flash, and it can be expanded through microSD cards, and the hTc Z also supports Bluetooth 2.0.
