Need a Nerd this week entered Tauranga, one of New Zealand’s fastest growing regions and has plans to launch into other regions over the next six months.
Need A Nerd general manager Adam Dunkerley said this was the start of the company’s ambitious plans to become New Zealand’s leading specialist technology support provider to the home user and small/medium business markets.
“Our success in Hawke’s Bay has given us the confidence to roll out Need a Nerd nationwide.
"Tauranga is growing rapidly as a region with a large number of new housing developments along with a vibrant small and medium business community,” Mr Dunkerley said.
Need a Nerd started in Hawke’s Bay in 2004 and the businesses systems are now well advanced for a national roll out. The company employs eight fulltime staff including a General Manager, five Nerds (technicians), and a help support centre that provides basic technology advice, books Nerd appointments, and supports the Nerds.
In preparation for national expansion Need A Nerd has re-branded and undertaken strategic alliances and supplier arrangements with internet provider and mobile telecommunications companies Slingshot and Vodafone.
The company is also in discussions with a large national electrical appliance retailer.
Need a Nerd is also looking at extending its range of products and services to become a one stop shop in technology solutions including home entertainment system installations and servicing.
