3G not really 3G...
Posted on 6-Apr-2003 22:14 | Tags Filed under: News

I've noticed this before. In U.S some companies call their services "3G" when they're in fact CDMA or GPRS (2.5G) only. These companies are taking advantage of all hype around 3G, and create services (some of them quite innovative) using 2.5G technology, readily available, thus creating all sort of confusion in the customers' minds.

In Australia, Hutchison (owner of 3), is ready to launch it's full 3G services, and start talking about legal actions against companies with misleading advertising.
