Bloglines Mobile Incorporates Skweezer Technologies

Posted on 22-Sep-2006 22:37 | Filed under: News

Bloglines has integrated Greenlight Wireless Corporation's Skweezer technology into its mobile version. Skweezer optimizes web content for mobile devices, reducing size and reformating content to fit on a small screen.

Bloglines Mobile users now view "skweezed" versions of the web pages they access through favourite RSS feeds. This accelerates download speeds and present content in an easier to view and navigate format, fit for the small displays found on mobile phones and PDAs.

With the Skweezer technology, Bloglines also provides mobile access to more content by using Skweezer's paging feature, which allows Web pages to load that would otherwise be too memory-intensive for most devices with memory constraints.

Skweezer's proprietary compression algorithms, developed and refined over the past five years, significantly reduce Web content typically to 15% or less of its original file size. This allows web pages to load more quickly and has the added benefit of greatly reducing network capacity requirements. Skweezer technology is platform independent and can be used with Pocket PC, Palm, Symbian, MS Smartphone, Blackberry, PSP2, and XHTML-based mobile phone devices.
