MobiTV Enters Latin America Market Through Deal With Brazilian Operator Claro
Brazilian mobile operator Claro has launched Idéias TV, a service offering 10 TV channels to mobile users, including CNN International, ESPN, Discovery, Bloomberg Television, The History Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Fashion TV.

The project is the result of a partnership of Mexican group América Móvil and MobiTV. América Móvil operates Claro in Brazil.

Consumers will be able to access this service by subscription. Bundles include daily, weekly and monthly options. The monthly option will have an automatic renewal.

Subscriptions can be purchased directly from the handset. After the service request an application is automatically downloaded to the mobile device. A grid will show current programmes and the keypad can be used as a remote control.

Currently users with Nokia 3250 and Palm Treo 650 will be be able to access the service, through the operator's EDGE network. Claro expects to soon release this service for new handsets being launched now, such as the Nokia N80 e Nokia E62.

Both pre-paid and post-paid clients can access the service.
