Google Introduces Gmail Client for Phones
Gmail users now have another option to access the e-mail service while on the go. Google is introducing a Gmail for mobile client, bringing to compatible mobile phones a Gmail application that is as powerful as the desktop version.

With this new application users can compose, read, and respond to conversations with a minimum of clicking and scrolling. It also allows users to view document attachments, including pictures and PDF files.

The application also integrates the Gmail contacts with the phone, making it possible to initiate a call to a contact directly from the application.

Users can go to http://gmail.com/app from their mobile browser to download the app. If users don't already have a Gmail account, they can sign up for an account via SMS by going to http://gmail.google.com and clicking on “sign up for Gmail.”

The application is available free of charge from Google. It is currently compatible with all J2ME-enabled phones in the U.S. and works with a variety of carrier service plans.
