Vodafone New Zealand has released financial details for the quarter ended 31 December 2006, showing that the company has added 89,000 customers, reaching a total of 2,200,000 total customers in the country.

The company did not disclose its market share in the mobile market.

On account customers brought in and average revenue per user (ARPU) of NZ$128.90, while prepay customers generated an average of NZ$23.70 each for the company. Vodafone reported 672 million voice minutes used on its network.

Vodafone New Zealand says the new customers were mainly attracted to special promotions such as the new BestMate service, which allows users to nominate another Vodafone mobile number and connected via voice, SMS or video calling to the designated phone number unlimited times per month, for a set price.

Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) is down compared to last year, at NZ$50.70 compared to NZ$51.20.
