Trend Micro has announced a new version of its smartphone security solution, available to the market in April 2007. This latest release includes new security features within the Trend Micro Mobile Security.
Trend Micro Mobile Security 3.0 for Symbian based S60 protects all Nokia Eseries devices, including the new Nokia E61i, Nokia E65 and Nokia E90 Communicator against hackers and intrusions while improving on the previously available mobile malicious code protection.
The company justifies the need for this kind of software by saying that until now, threats to Smartphone devices have been proof-of-concept attacks, limited by weak propagation methods and a modest target device population. However they believe these sorts of devices will increasingly be the target of fraud and identity theft.
Trend Micro Mobile Security 3.0 for Symbian OS 9.1/S60 3rd Edition supports a variety of Nokia devices including the Nokia E50, E60, E61, E61i, E62, E65, E70, E90, N95, N93, N93i, N92, N91, N80, N76, N75, N73, N71, 3250, 5500, 6290. Trend Micro Mobile Security 3.0 for Windows Mobile 5.0 has been shipping since November 2006.
Users will find Trend Micro Mobile Security 3.0 for Symbian/S60 3rd Edition available in April 2007 with pricing beginning at $34.95 per device. Trend Micro Mobile Security 3.0 for Windows Mobile 5.0 (Pocket PC and Smartphone) is available immediately with pricing beginning at $34.95 per device.
