Canadian-based iotum has released new enhancements to Talk-Now, a presence application for RIM Blackberry devices that lets users share availability, see who is available and who wants to talk, and be notified when people become available.
Unlike traditional presence applications, which show the same availability to every subscriber, Talk-Now uses a platform called Relevance Engine t o show the subscriber’s actual willingness to speak with specific individuals, based on their relationship to the subscriber and what the subscriber is currently doing.
The software automatically populates its Contacts list with those contacts on the device who are also Talk-Now subscribers. elminating the need to manually add each contact.
When users need to be notified when one of these people becomes available, it is simply a matter of moving the contact to the Notify Me list. When they become available, Talk-Now will notify the user.
The Talk-Now application runs on the newest BlackBerry models, including the 8700 series, the Pearl, and most handhelds running OS 4.1 or higher.
