HTC introduces HTC Shift UMPC
High Tech Computer Corp. is expanding its product portfolio to include a new kind of mobile computing device. Traditionally a well known manufacturer of Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphones, HTC is introducing a Ultra Mobile PC, also known as UMPC.

The HTC Shift integrates Windows Vista Business and integrates advanced 3G and wireless connectivity into a compact design. The design also incorporates a sliding keyboard.

The company says the device is similar in size to a couple of DVD cases, including a 7-inch widescreen touch display and a 30 GB (gigabyte) hard drive.

The 3G cellular connectivity supports tri-band UMTS/HSDPA, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi. The HTC Shift also leverages Windows Media Player 11 to provide easy access to music, videos and photos.

The HTC Shift will be available in the US and Europe in Q3 2007. There is no word on pricing yet.
