New Zealand review website nztopten.com has officially launched, allowing Kiwis to share their favourite and least favourite places, products and services.
NZ Top Ten is unique in the way it combines its review functionality with social networking and Web 2.0 features. All content on the website is user generated and user moderated, a rarity on the New Zealand Internet scene according to the site founders Malcolm Gibb and Simon Watt.
Initially the site is focusing on restaurant reviews, but there are other categories users can add reviews to, such as Night Life and Shopping. Like all the content on NZ Top Ten, the categories are created by users.
Simon explains "Web 2.0 is a phrase that refers to a second-generation of Web-based services - such as social networking and user generated content - that emphasize online collaboration and sharing among users. Typically Web 2.0 websites will provide a rich, interactive, user-friendly interface."
The NZ Top Ten website has been in a 'friends only' state for the last few weeks to build up an initial review base, but launches publicly on the 2 May.
